This apple cider vinegar honey shot is a tasty, super-powerful elixir that can aid digestion, help with allergies, ward off sickness, rev up metabolism and more. With just a handful of simple ingredients, you’ll love making this tonic a part of your wellness routine!

Please Note: Apple cider vinegar can have interactions with certain medications, including diuretics and insulin. Please consult with a medical professional before consuming this mixture if you are taking any prescription medications.

Before You Get Started

  • If you can, use raw, local honey in your apple cider vinegar shot! Raw honey is less processed, so it retains more nutrients, making it a great source of antioxidants and antibacterial & antifungal properties. Local honey is made by local bees using local pollen – which means it can help lessen your body’s response to local allergens. Plus you’re supporting local bee farmers!
  • Don’t just grab any old apple cider vinegar for your ACVH elixir. Ideally you want to use an apple cider vinegar that contains The Mother. You’ll find “The Mother” in ACV that’s raw and unfiltered – look for opaque, cloudy strands floating in the liquid. That substance is made up of yeast and probiotics, and it’s believed to be good for gut health and the immune system. Consuming it is safe, but if it’s too unappealing, you can opt for motherless ACV instead.

How to Make This Recipe

See recipe card below for full list of measurements, ingredients, and instructions.

Mix Your Base.

Whisk the warm – NOT boiling – water and honey together until they’re fully combined.

Add the rest.

Add apple cider vinegar (preferably with “the Mother”!) and cinnamon to the thinned honey and whisk everything together.

If the prepared shot is too thick for your liking, add up to 3 additional tablespoons of warm water. Whisk well!

What I Love About This Recipe

  • Along with my Immune System Booster Shot Recipe, this apple cider vinegar and honey elixir is one of my go-to, ingredients-always-on-hand recipes whenever the seasons change. That’s super easy to do, of course, because you only need 3 ingredients (plus a little water).
  • Seriously, though. The first sniffle, I whip one of these bad boys up and let it work its magic. Maybe it’s a placebo effect, but after a day or two with one of these potions, I’m feeling good as new! Now, don’t get me wrong – this is not a replacement for medical care, medication, or just taking care of yourself in general. I am not a medical professional, nor do I pretend to be one on the internet… or anywhere else.
  • Even without the potential health benefits, a shot made with apple cider vinegar, honey, and cinnamon just tastes really good. The warm water makes the whole drink warm, which is especially nice if you’ve got a sore throat or it’s just a chilly morning.

Recipe Variations

  • ACVH Toddy: If you want a boozy apple cider vinegar honey shot, add 1-2 tablespoons of whiskey or bourbon and a dash of lemon juice.

Making changes to a recipe can result in recipe failure. Any substitutions or variations listed are simple changes that I believe will work in this recipe, but results are not guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will this apple cider vinegar honey shot keep?

It tastes best (and is most effective) when it’s consumed immediately after preparation, but you can make it in advance. Refrigerate the shot in an airtight container and consume within 5 days of preparation. Stir or shake the mixture well before consuming.

How many apple cider vinegar and honey shots can I consume in one day?

I don’t recommend more than one of these shots per day. I also don’t recommend consuming them daily for an extended amount of time. Consuming large amounts of apple cider vinegar can lead to nausea, diarrhea, and heartburn, and ACV can interact with some medications. Please consult a medical professional if you have any concerns or if your symptoms persist.

Iwas so looking forward to get into the 100 club my target was 180. Like I said I just started a diet again that apple vinegar is just hard to drink straight. That recipe makes love it now thank you for sharing that.5 stars

  3. Friends…I need help boosting my immune system. I have mylodysplastic syndrome * MDS..a bone marrow disorder. They call it ca…but we dont say that word…because the dr said…”well, loosely stated you have bone marrow ca…nope…I reject that in the name of Jesus) . Praise God it is the low risk kind with ringed siderblasts.I was diagnosed in 2014 and have been able to remain stable, but my hemaglobin is starting to go down a couple of 100th of a point to trend me below 8.o hemaglobin. SO…please put on your thinking caps. Fatigue and muscle loss seems to be what is happening presently…but, Im old (67)…but, not really. I want to get better and have two sons with Aspergers, so I NEED to get better. Motivated and need your help. Please pray and give me some ideas that I can do. Starting the honey shots today. God bless you all and thank you. Someday, perhaps this RN can help you too! In Christ….Loretta

I’m 67, R.N. Mother of DD daughter. I get what you mean when you say “I need to get better” I believe you will, I’m praying for your healing. Be well.

  4. Would it be ok to make a batch of this ahead of time? Was thinking of making a week’s worth and storing it in the refrigerator for ease.5 stars

  5. Hi! My daughter loves the taste of ACV and could drink it straight if I let her! I assume you are adding the ingredients to improve the taste, rather than symbiotic health benefits…is this the case? Also, if she doesn’t prefer it, Is it necessary to add the honey? Or else to reduce the water by half? Or would either tweak be too intense for her system in the long run?

    1. The honey is both a sweetener and helpful here! The other ingredients are MOSTLY for taste, but they do have some helpful benefits to them. However, if she (or you!) hate any of them, feel free to leave them out!

  6. I’ve been doing something like this to help with a scratchy throat due to allergies. Didn’t know about all the other benefits too. I look forward to trying it with the cinnamon too.

  7. I was super surprised how good it tastes.I hope it helps with all the things I want.
    Thank you for shatter5 stars
