Lavender Lemonade Cocktail (With Vodka)

Floral and refreshing lemonade drinks with vodka, homemade lavender simple syrup, and fresh lemon juice are shaken to perfection in minutes and are perfect for entertaining!

  • Citrus juicer or hand reamer
  • Rocks glasses or highball glasses 8–12 ounces

Ingredients

For the Lavender Simple Syrup (Makes About ¾ Cup, See Notes)

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons dried culinary lavender

For the Cocktail

  • ounces vodka (or gin)
  • ¾ ounce lavender simple syrup
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice (about 1 medium lemon)
  • 2 ounces cold water or lemonade
  • Ice

Optional

  • Splash of soda water or prosecco

Garnish

  • 1 lemon slice
  • 1 lavender sprig (fresh or dried)

Instructions

Make the Lavender Simple Syrup

  • Combine ½ cup sugar and ½ cup water in small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves completely, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Remove from heat. Stir in 1 to 2 teaspoons dried culinary lavender. Let steep 20 to 30 minutes. Do not steep longer than 30 minutes.
  • Strain through fine mesh strainer into clean airtight jar, pressing gently on lavender. Cool completely before using.

Make the Cocktail

  • Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add 1½ ounces vodka, ¾ ounce lavender simple syrup, 1 ounce fresh lemon juice, and 2 ounces cold water.
  • Seal shaker and shake vigorously 15 to 20 seconds, until outside of shaker feels frosty cold.
  • Strain over fresh ice in rocks glass or highball glass. Top with splash of soda water or prosecco if desired. Garnish with lemon slice and lavender sprig. Serve immediately.

Recipe Notes

Syrup Steep Time: Lavender simple syrup requires 20-30 minutes of hands-off steeping time after removing from heat, plus additional cooling time before using. Make syrup up to 2 weeks in advance and store in airtight container in refrigerator.
To Batch for a Crowd: Multiply all cocktail ingredients (except ice and soda water) by number of guests. Combine in large pitcher and refrigerate up to 24 hours. Pour over ice in individual glasses; top with soda water or prosecco per glass when serving.
Make it a Mocktail: Omit vodka and top with sparkling water.
For Natural Purple Color: Use butterfly pea flower vodka or Empress 1908 gin in place of regular vodka.
Storage: Lavender simple syrup keeps in airtight container in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
