Blackberry Crumble

This blackberry crumble is perfectly sweet with an irresistible crumb topping! Slightly sour fresh blackberries are balanced out with a touch of sugar, then topped with a buttery oat crumble. Serve this blackberry crumble warm with a scoop of cold vanilla ice cream for a delicious summertime (or anytime) dessert!

Ingredients

For the Blackberry Filling

  • 8 cups fresh blackberries see Notes
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour

For the Crumb Topping

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup oats
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons butter melted

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375° Fahrenheit.
  • Mix all filling ingredients together in a large bowl, then transfer to a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Mix all crumb topping ingredients together in a bowl and spread mixture over top of the filling.

  • Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • Blackberries: Be sure to use fresh, not frozen, blackberries in this recipe. If frozen is your only option, you'll need to increase the flour to about 1/2 cup to compensate for the additional liquid they will release when baked.
  • Make it Vegan: Use vegan butter or coconut oil in place of the melted butter.
  • Make it Sugar-Free: Use your favorite sugar-free replacement, such as granular Swerve and Brown Swerve, in place of the sugar and brown sugar.
