Philly Cheesesteak Casserole

This Philly cheesesteak casserole is super easy, extra cheesy, and delicious! Savory ground beef, sweet bell peppers, and tangy cream cheese create the base for this simple recipe. This Philly cheesesteak casserole is topped with a layer of provolone cheese, then baked to melty, cheesy perfection!

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • 9x13 baking dish

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 bell peppers chopped
  • 1 yellow onion chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • ½ cup cream cheese
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6-8 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350° Fahrenheit.
  • Add ground beef and a pinch of salt to a large skillet over medium heat, cook until crumbled and meat is no longer pink.
  • Drain fat from skillet then add in the bell peppers, onion, and garlic. Cook for 5 minutes or until vegetables are slightly soft.
  • Remove from heat and add in the cream cheese, heavy cream, and salt – mix to combine.
  • Transfer to a 9x13 baking dish, top with provolone cheese slices, and bake for 10-15 minutes or until cheese is brown and bubbly.

Notes

  • I used 80% lean ground beef, though anywhere between 80% - 90% will work in this recipe.
