Moon Milk (3 Ways)

Whether you choose plain, cherry, or lavender flavored, this moon milk will help you unwind and drift off to dreamland.

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • whisk
  • fine mesh sieve or other strainer
  • mug for serving

Ingredients

For Plain Moon Milk

  • 1 ½ cups non-dairy milk of choice almond, coconut, oat, or macadamia
  • teaspoon ground ginger
  • teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 dash pure vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg fresh preferred
  • 1 pinch ground cardamom optional
  • ¼ teaspoon ashwagandha powder from ashwagandha capsules
  • 1 pinch freshly ground black pepper
  • 2-3 teaspoons maple syrup to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon astralagus powder optional

For Cherry Moon Milk

  • ¼ cup non-dairy milk of choice almond, coconut, oat, or macadamia
  • ¼ cup tart cherry juice
  • teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 dash pure vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg fresh preferred
  • 1 pinch ground cardamom optional
  • ¼ teaspoon ashwagandha powder from ashwagandha capsules
  • 2-3 teaspoons maple syrup to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon astralagus powder optional

For Lavender Moon Milk

  • 1 ½ cups non-dairy milk of choice almond, coconut, oat, or macadamia
  • 1 dash pure vanilla extract dash
  • ¼ teaspoon ashwagandha powder from ashwagandha capsules
  • 2 teaspoons dried lavender buds
  • 2-3 teaspoons honey to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon astralagus powder optional

Instructions

  • Warm small saucepan over medium heat. Add all ingredients for preferred moon milk flavor to warmed saucepan and whisk until ingredients are well-blended. Let mixture simmer 5 minutes.
  • Fit fine mesh sieve or strainer over serving mug. Carefully pour warmed moon milk into sieve, straining out any unincorporated ingredients. Discard any sediment left in sieve.
  • Whisk moon milk in mug before serving to be sure spices are fully incorporated. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Astralagus is optional but recommended to aid with sleep.
