1. Pickled balsamic cherries.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed that it seemed like they were giving away cherries at the store this season. Usually, cherries–my absolute favorite summer fruit to which I look forward all year–are too expensive to eat every. single. day. of. summer. Not this year! What to do with the last of the season’s cherries? Make pickled balsamic pickled cherries. My jaw dropped when I found this recipe over at Confections of a Foodie Bride, and I obsessed over becoming the type of person who makes balsamic pickled cherries. I’ll let you know how that goes.
2. Burgers, Oscar-Style.
Last weekend was an excellent weekend. Because I went to New Orleans with the love of my life for no real reason? No. Because I found Confections of a Foodie Bride. It’s the type of blog that makes me sigh or curse at every single recipe. Will I ever be the type of cook who comes up with hatch chile croque monsieurs? Does it matter, if CoaFB is on my Google Reader? This particular recipe was the one that started this love affair. I’m not a huge fan of burgers–more on that in a second–but I’m a huge fan of anything-oscar: crab meat, asparagus, and hollandaise. This is the recipe that made me fall in love with Confections of a Foodie Bride: the burger, oscar-style. What better way to celebrate Labor Day than with utterly luxurious burgers?
3. Burgers Part II: Thin or Thick?

4. Chocolate Mousse, le Mieux.
I had every intention of making The Best Chocolate Mousse of Your Life on Wednesday night, but O dragged me to one of our favorite little bakeries down the street for dessert instead. That’s why I’m going to break up with him. ………….Just kidding! Except this chocolate mousse does look phenomenal. You had me at “molecular gastronomy”, Joanna.
5. Pokemon Haute Couture.
This, dear readers, is the definition of HonestlyWTF. Somewhere out there, there’s a website that superimposes Pokemon characters on haute couture editorial shoots. Need I say more? Yes, I do. Click here for the Pokemon cameo post. Oddly enough, this post never fails to remind me of Lana del Rey. I’m all ears for possible explanations.
Note: Lastly, I would like all dear readers to know that I am not just that much of a fatty that I only read about unbearably decadent burgers and chocolate and Pokemon, but am saving killer beauty reads for a fall-immersion list. I don’t actually even eat, unless you count lipstick. It’s true. I just make all the food to feed O so he doesn’t leave me, because I’m a really awful, though painfully skinny, person. Fin.
