Good news, guys! The Stylist Quo and the Laidback Vegan have joined forces to combat evil.
The evil of… superfluous RSS feeds and Facebook pages.
What I’ve recently learned about my own personal culinary point-of-view lately is that I love to create healthy, plant-based meals… but that restricting myself to a strict label (“vegan”, “gluten-free”, “whole 30″, you know the type) just takes so much of the fun out of everything. Instead, I believe the best way to eat healthy is to do so most of the time… but without feeling any guilt about those uh, “cheat” days.
You know what I’m talking about!
So welcome to 40 Aprons! I’ll be posting mostly plant-based, vegan foods, but we’re not a vegan blog. I can’t help but think that anchovy paste is on par with miso paste in umami divinity, and homemade goat cheese sings its siren song to me every once in a blue moon. But why restrict myself to a prohibitive term?
Why 40 Aprons?
At a local interview recently, I joked that I should start a blog called “40 Aprons”, because of my ridiculous apron collection. A couple days ago, I counted approximately 29 aprons residing in my kitchen–not quite 40, no, but not too far from it, either!
Aside from the literal application, I wear so many different hats–aprons, if you will–in my day-to-day life as an entrepreneur & freelancer, food blogger, and general, you know, person. Just like you do.
It seemed fitting–how many of us can be totally boxed up into one little category? We all wear so many different aprons, so to speak, and that’s what makes our lives interesting.
